BECKOM
Beckom is the next small town to
visit, heading south on the Newell Highway. A very small town it is.
Beckom
has a population of 170 people on the 2006 Census night. The town was
established with the opening of the railway line in 1908. Passenger
services ceased in 1983 and the station closed in 1985 however the
line remains open for goods trains.
As
small as the town is, Bustout qualification is met.
The
Beckom Hotel is quite a grand building.
The
Beckom church is active and has an historic rating.
The
Beckom War Memorial is the Memorial Hall.
The
Museum is represented by the ‘old’ agricultural artifacts.
Be
sure to have refreshment at the hotel.
