JUGIONG
Jugiong is one of the more recent
towns that are now by-passed by the Hume Freeway. The removal of
significant traffic volumes has seen a decline in economic activity.
But pleasingly most business continues to trade.
Jugiong is a town on the valley floor
where the Murrumbidgee River passes through. There was always a
feeling in times past that Tom Roberts may have derived some of his
painting ideas from the vista above Jugiong.
The Catholic Church in Jugiong is over
100 years old.
The Anglican likewise is a century old
and classic design building.
The Jugiong Hotel often features on
calendars.
The stables at the rear still remain, but now showing disrepair.
The Jugiong War Memorial is located
within the Memorial Park.
Time your travel for refreshment at
the historic pub and be sure to check out the interior of that
Catholic Church.
