BUNDABERG
Think of RUM and you think of
Bundaberg. The Bundaberg spirit delight is the key high profile export
industry of Bundaberg, but the city really has a lot to offer.
Bundaberg is very nice place.
Bundaberg is 100k sth of Gladstone and
is a sugar cane town. The river also is an important feature of the
region; in an earlier era the Burnett River was a major movement and
shipping of cane and consumable goods. The rich red soil of the region
has determined Bundaberg is also a major supplier of fresh produce to
Queensland.
Bundaberg as a European township was founded by timber
getters Bob and George Stewart and Lachlan Tripp in 1867. The first
farmers in the area arrived soon after. Timber was the first
established industry in Bundaberg. In 1868 a sawmill was erected on
the Burnett River downstream from the Stuart and Watson holdings. The
city was surveyed, laid out and named Bundaberg in 1870.
As stated the city's better-known exports is Bundaberg
Rum, which is made from the sugar cane by-product molasses Bundaberg
is also home to beverage producer Bundaberg Brewed Drinks 
The Bundaberg central business district is a well
planned community meeting place. 
Bundaberg has four museums all located near the
Botanic Gardens. Visitors should acquaint themselves with multi museum
discount offer.   
The Bundaberg War Memorial holds central presence near
the Post Office. 
The Churches in Bundaberg are classic and early
century structures.    
In keeping with the Bundaberg climate and early
tourism eras hotels made an important contribution to the early travel
era.
