KURANDA
A visit to Cairns determines a trip to
Kuranda via train and return via gondola is a must do. This is a great
day trip, no matter what the weather. Rain Forests have to have rain.
Kuranda is a town in the Atherton
Tablelands that could be out of the Blue Mountains or the Dandenongs.
The difference is Kuranda is a warm place all year round, and is
without doubt a little more exotic. Kuranda is a very successful
tourist town that caters for the full spectrum of wealth.
The Train trip is a two hour
informative excursion and well worth the investment.
Allow the maximum time for the Kuranda
Township and be sure to checkout the museum.
The Bird Sanctuary is recommended.
Kuranda has three churches… Two shown
here.
The Kuranda Hotel is near the rail
station.
The Kuranda War Memorial is in ANZAC
Park.
The Gondola trip (descent) is a great
way to return to Cairns. Rain Forests, waterfalls, and some huge trees
make for a memorable journey.
