SARINA
Once the traveler hits Sarina, there
is then not too far to Mackay. Sarina is surrounded by Sugar Cane
Fields and is a sugar town. Bustout had pictured Sarina as being
another very attractive Qld town. But sadly is a little disappointing.

That said it was easy to linger a
little. If one intends to do the Sugar Cane tour you will need to
allow half a day at a minimum to visit. The Sarina Museum is on the
southern end of town and the museum and tour is a must.
Sarina lies just inland of
the coast on the Bruce Highway. Besides sugar cane growing and
milling, cattle grazing and agriculture are successful industries.
Proximity to the coast and mountains also attracts tourists to this
area. It is a major supplier of ethanol through the CSR Limited
distillery.
The world famous "Big Cane
Toad" is situated in the town center in honor of Sarina's proud cane
farming history.
Recently tourism has grown
in Sarina with Mackay being relatively close. Legend has it the very
first jar of Vegemite was produced in Sarina in 1922.
The Sarina Churches are of
modern design.
 The
Catholic Church is impressive.
The Sarina War Memorial is
located in the centre of the town.
The Sarina Hotels are a mix
in terms of age.
When traveling either north
or south on the Bruce Hgy, Sarina will be passed through. At a min
check out the Museum and get a photo of the ‘big toad’
