MACARTHUR
Macarthur is one of those towns one passes through and usually would
not give the place a second thought. The Macarthur War Memorial should
give cause to linger a little. Also some of the old buildings
determine a bit of a looking over. Macarthur Post
Office opened 1 January 1862.
So Macarthur is a very old place.
The name Macarthur for the town, though a rich English
name is not readily recorded.
A stroll around Macarthur reveals a
proud community,
a number of heritage buildings, including two 150 year old churches.
The Macarthur Hotel is a century plus
establishment that no doubt is the centre of the town now.
The Macarthur War Memorial is a very
tasteful and moving acknowledgement.
All church denominations are
represented in this small community.

A look at the War Memorial determines
a stop. Refreshment at the pub may be in order also.
