CAPEL
Still traveling south on Highway one
Perth and through the coastal resort cities and towns, midway between
Bunbury and Busselton is Capel. Capel is another fast growing
community in this area. The Iluka Mining group being one of the key
influences in Capel.
Historically, Capel is a
farming area; traditional agricultural pursuits include dairy and
beef. In recent times, Capel has become popular for hobby farms. There
is also some mining of mineral sands in the Shire, and tourism is
increasingly important to the town’s economy.
Capel is a pretty little town that is
easy to enjoy.
The Anglican Church is an historic
structure.
The Capel War Memorial is a WW1
classic cenotaph.
The Tavern is a relatively modern
design building.
If the timing is right Capel at a
minimum is a nice place to have that stopover.
