CHEVIOT
Cheviot is a small town on State
Highway One midway between Christchurch and Kaikoura. Cheviot is also
midway from Hammer Springs and Kaikoura.
Cheviot is an old town that today
seeks to preserve those traditions. Being on a busy highway ensures a
reasonable level of economic activity and the long term future of
Cheviot is assured.
Cheviot has a bit of buzz about it,
and from time to time holds street markets and the hotel
plays an active role with social activities.

Cheviot is a service town for highway traffic and for
a pastoral farming district that is currently predominant in sheep
farming. The Anglican Church is
over one hundred years old. The stain glass windows were donated by
earlier parishioners and church followers.
The Cheviot War Memorial has good
profile in the cbd.
Cheviot is a town that at a minimum
the Anglican Church gets a look over, and then refreshment at the
township.
