FAIRLIE
Fairlie
is the last major centre before heading into the high plains the lakes
and most importantly Mount Cook. Fairlie is a nice town that has all
of the important services and along with the traveling tourist
provides to the local community. Fairlie is a ‘with it’ town

‘So Fairlie is the
eastern gateway to the Mackenzie Country and provide the traveler with
a contrast from its rich, green rolling hills and pastures as they
respectfully submit to the grand, open, shimmering upland. More on

Fairlie has boating
and fishing in the rivers and on Lake Opuha, hunting and hiking in the
hills, golf on the 18 hole course and in winter, great skiing and fun
at Mount Dobson.
Investigate intriguing
history at the Fairlie museum and at Mabel Binney Cottage
or visit one of the many local art galleries.’ 
Fairlie has the
classic ‘Grand’ hotel
that
begs indulgence and the traditional Fairlie Hotel.
The
mainstream churches are all represented at Fairlie.  
The Fairlie War
Memorial has good prominence on the main thoroughfare.
