HAVELOCK NORTH
Havelock North is a satellite suburb of Hastings, but interestingly
the community sees itself as an independent entity. Havelock North
represents wealth, and it manifests itself in the township and the
people. This is quite a fascinating place.
Havelock North is also a very young place and experienced most of its
growth in the early 50’s and 60’s, but has continued to grow,
particularly as local people seek to align themselves to the town. In
the Hawkes Bay, Havelock North is best address in town.
Havelock North
lies seven kilometres to the southeast of Hastings itself, and has a
population of over 10,000. It is generally the residence of the
wealthier people of the region.
The town, known
locally as "the village", stands on the Heretaunga Plains, and has a
reputation for its orchards, vineyards, and educational facilities.
The town's industry is based around its fruit and wine production, and
includes a winery
When the town was developing, all things that make a town were new,
and to that end the churches
and locations were planned. So too the War Memorial, town square and
hotel.
Havelock North as yet does not have a museum.
Havelock North business and commercial centres have no vacancies and
that says it all.
A must visit location
