MANIAI
Maniai is a small community on what we
are now calling the Surf Highway. Manaia is 14 km’s from Hawera, and
is a free spirit community. Manaia draws on the resources of Hawera,
but is also the home of the Taranaki Country Music.
Manaia is the bread baking ‘capitol’
of New Zealand. One of the largest bread manufacturingYarrows
bakers has been the main business in Manaia since 1923.
The symbol having great profile

Manaia is also the first gateway to
the Egmont National Park and Dowling Falls and
the golf course is one of the oldest of Taranaki, created around 1905,
but is one of many in the Sth Taranaki.
The Manaia War Memorial is in the centre of the
township. 
The Manaia Hotel is on the main intersection.
The Yarrow Complex gives off a classic bread
manufacture aroma.
The Manaia churches are structures of the era.
