METHVEN
Methven is a town that is visited if
traveling to the Mount Hutt Ski Fields, other than that it is a
diversion visit town. Methven is fully geared to the ski fraternity
and outside this seasonal activity the town is very quiet. The coffee
sets and bikies would also see Methven as a weekend and day trip
destination.
The two hotels are a regularly visited
and are the classic design.
Methven itself is a pretty town that
has the majority of essential services and is a
rural service town throughout the year and as mentioned undergoes a
stark transformation in winter. The ski field is around half an hour
away from Methven, the closest town.
In addition to skiing, another popular attraction is
hot air ballooning.
Methven also served as a base to cast and crew for the
filming of Edoras (located further inland), for The Lord of the Rings.
Methven has all of the traditional
church groups.
The Methven Museum
opens at weekends and Methven also has a two screen boutique cinema.
The Methven War Memorial is the set of
gates by the high school.
Methven is a town that is worth the
visit and a stay over to pick up a movie in a different environment.
There is ample accommodation in the off season.
