RIVERSDALE
Riversdale is the first of a number of
towns that were visited on the Winton to Dunedin back route; i.e. via
Raes Junction. A route that is used by the locals. This is a very good
road and the scenery is delightful.
Riversdale is a small town on the
route and also on Highway 94.
From a pure residency sense Riversdale
has a lot going for it. Community centre,
golf course and museum just to offer two key needs. The museum is a
vintage machinery offer and is open at weekends.
The thriving rural community of
Riversdale is experiencing population growth as people recognize the
value of living in a pro-active community with strong infrastructure.
Dairy farming, coal mining & off-shore oil exploration are all adding
to the future economic growth of the region.
Riversdale is 30km from Gore and just 1.5 hours from Queenstown,
Invercargill and Dunedin airports. The Riversdale Hotel
is situated on State Highway 94 which is the scenic route between
Dunedin and the tourist regions of Te Anau and Milford Sound.
Riversdale has a two active
churches
  and
a War Memorial
that is close to the main village activities.
