TE AWAMUTU
Te Awamutu is the Rose Capital of New Zealand,
and
serves as a service town for the farming communities which surround
it. It has a population with the surrounding rural areas a total
population of about 14,000.
Te Awamutu is a very progressive community that is a significant
commercial hub. Te Awamutu is only 30 kms from Hamilton, and whilst a
commute location to Hamilton is very independent Town.
The main thoroughfare is Alexandra Street, so named because it was
once the main road to the town of Alexandra (since renamed to Pirongia).
The Anglican Church has a national trust rating and is open to the
public.

The War Memorial is a grand and imposing monument.
The Museum is a professional offer and gives a good and adequate
background to the history of Te Awamutu. Te Awamutu boasts ownership
of Finn Brothers of Split Enz Fame.
The ‘old hotel’ is a well maintained building in the heart of the
town.
Te Awamutu is a place to savor and you will need to allow a day to
visit. Longer if the Roses are in season.
